tutorial: Adding an activity
To begin, make sure you are logged in to the site:
1) Go to http://samanimation.pbwiki.com/, click on the “login” link in the upper right corner of the window.
2) Log in using either the wiki password / invite key (teacher), or your e-mail address and pbwiki password.
There are 2 steps to adding an activity to the site.
1. First, you will need to create a new page for the activity
a. Click on the "New Page" button at the top of the window.
b. Create a name for our activity (This will also be the name of the new page).
c. Select "Activity Template."
d. Click on the "Create new page" button.
e. The window should now display an outline of a lesson with a point-and-click style document editing interface. Change the activity name and description, and fill in the details of your lesson under the appropriate headings.
f. To upload your video:
i. Make sure you have already have your movie saved as a QuickTime file. The file extension should be .mov (ex: MyAwesomeAnimation.mov).
ii. In the page editor, highlight the text, "[INSERT MOVIE HERE]" and click on the "Insert Plugin" icon at the top of the screen.
iii. Move the cursor over the "video" button, and click on "Upload a video."
iv. Follow the instructions to browse for your QuickTime file and click submit. When you see the preview of your video (should be a black screen), click on "Finish" to actually upload the file.
2. You now need to create a link to your activity on the "Home" page so other users can find your work.
a. Make sure you are viewing the "Home" page by clicking on the "Home" button at the top of the window.
b. Click "Edit Page," and the window will display a point-and-click style document-editing interface.
c. Place the cursor in a cell in the right column of the table within a fitting discipline. Click on the "Link" button at the top of the screen.
d. Made sure the drop-down menus display "WikiPage" as the Link Type, and your activity's name as the "Link to wiki page" option. The link text should also be your activity's name.
e. Next to your link, type a short description of your activity.
