Objectives:
- Compare and contrast the human skeletal system to the bones found in an owl pellet
- Accurately dissect, identify and classify the bones found in an owl pellet
- Investigate and explore the predator/prey relationship
Activity Overview
Tips:
- This animation is the culminating project of the owl pellet dissection activity.
- The dissection of the owl pellet itself involves 2 class periods prior to the animation. The first period is used for background information and connections. The sessond period is used for the dissection and clean up.
- For beginning animators, the actual animation activity could take 4 class periods (more experienced students might require less time):
- First class - recap owl pellet dissection, introduce animation project, brainstorm, review animation program.
- Second and third classes - planning, developing and making animations.
- Fourth class - finishing touches, discussion and reflection with an optional film festival.
